Each rug listed on our site is either a wool pile on a cotton foundation or a wool pile on a wool foundation. Quality, unrefined wool contains a substance called lanolin. Lanolintends to have a naturalsmell, which many compare to thesmellof sheep – or almost metallic-y, but sweet and grassy.
